REGULATION

 


Art.1 - Requirements

The competition / audition "International Orchestra Auditions Awards" is open to musicians of all nationalities and without age limits having the following requirements:

  1. a. age not less than 18 years;
  2. b. not having reported criminal convictions and not having ongoing criminal proceedings.
 
 


Art.2 - Application form

Applications can be filed only through the online from, starting from June 4, 2020 and no later than August 31, 2020 at 12:00 pm Rome time.

Candidates must attach:

1) copy of the identification document (identity card or passport in pdf format);

2) summary curriculum (max. 20 lines) indicating the studies completed, professional and artistic qualifications and any positions held;

Registration for the PRE-SELECTION PHASE of the competition / audition is FREE

 


Art.3 - Conduct of the tests

The auditions will take place online and are divided into two phases: Preselection e Final.

  • PRE-SELECTION: when registering, competitors must send a recording of a solo piece of their choice which gives a clear representation of their artistic skills.

Competitors selected by the Commission to enter the final phase of the competition will receive communication by e-mail by September 10, 2020

  • FINAL: The finalists must send a recording of an orchestral passage chosen from those sent by the organization of the competition and proceed with the payment of the organizational contribution of € 50 (non-refundable in any case) following the methods indicated.

All registrations must be uploaded online by the competitor on the YouTube, Vimeo, Dropbox, Google Drive or other hosting services.

At the end of the preselections, the following places will be available for the final stage:

The Commission - composed of experts and talented internationally renowned musicians appointed by the Artistic Direction of the Samnium International University of Music - will perform the following tasks:

  1. ensure the legitimacy of the conduct of the hearings;
  2. check applications for admission and fulfilment of requirements;
  3. examine the audio / video material sent by the candidates;
  4. evaluate the preparation and technical and artistic qualities of the candidates;
  5. draft the minutes and the final report on the candidates who participated in the hearing.

The participants in the selections, by the mere fact of competing, will expressly recognize the faculties and powers of the examining Commission, whose decisions will be final and unquestionable.

Art.4 - The prizes

International Orchestra Auditions Awards will award scholarships for a total value of 90.000,00 $.

The winners of the Absolute First Prize, First Prize and Second Prize, will be invited to participate in the orchestral staff of the Samnium Symphony Orchestra and they will perform in a European tour that will end with a symphonic concert at the Vienna Musikverein (Glass Hall) on June 2021.

The following prizes will be awarded for each instrument:

Absolute First Prize, from 95/100 to 100/100$ 1500,00 scholarships.

First prize, from 90/100 to 95/100$ 1000,00 scholarships.

Second Prize, from 80/100 to 90/100: $ 500,00 scholarships.

Third Prize, from 70/100 to 80/100: third prize diploma

Candidates who report less than 70/100 will receive a Diploma of Merit.

The renunciation of the invitation to play on the European tour organized by Samnium University of Music will result in the forfeiture of the prize.<br>


Art.5 - Application deadline and nomination of the competition winners

Candidates must complete the registration by August 31, 2020 at 12:00 pm Rome time, following the online procedure.

Candidates who will access the final stage they will be contacted by e-mail by September 10, 2020 and must send the recording of the orchestra excerpt chosen from those sent by the Organization of the competition and the receipt of the organizational contribution no later than October 31, 2020 at 12:00 pm Rome time.

The winners of the'International Orchestra Auditions Awards will be announced on this website on November 30, 2020.

The winners will be contacted immediately by the secretariat of the Samnium International University of Music, and will have 15 days to accept the invitation to play on the European tour scheduled for June 2021, under penalty of forfeiture of the prize.

Three events are scheduled: June 18, 2021 at the Roman Theater in Benevento, June 19, 2021 at the Ostia Antica theater in Rome and June 21, 2021 at the Vienna Musikverein (Glass Hall).

 

 


Art.6 - Final rules

Registration for the competition implies the unconditional acceptance of these regulations as well as the reservation of the Artistic and Organizational Management to make changes to the same.

The University remains exempt from any liability in the case of unavailability of the sender at the address indicated in the application for admission and in the absence of the requirements required by this announcement.
